Defending US Open Doubles Champs Advance to Finals

The top-seeded doubles tandem of Lukas Dlouhy (CZE) and Leander Paes (IND) used a strong and powerful pace to shoot past Bobby Reynolds (USA) and Andre Sa (BRA) in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, in their semifinals matchup at the BMW Tennis Championship.

Dlouhy and Paes, or “L-squared” as they are known as, clearly showed the crowd why they are the top seed in this championship. The duo, owners of numerous Grand Slam Championships -- including the 2009 French Open and 2009 U.S. Open -- started off fast and used two consecutive service breaks to win the first set, 6-2.

Reynolds and Sa seemed to pick up some momentum in the second set, coming back to stave off a match point at 5-2 and breaking Paes’ serve. They then followed with a strong win in the next set to pull within 5-4. However in the end, they could not rally enough to avoid succumbing to the powerful game that Dlouhy and Paes brought to the court.

Dloughy and Paes go on to face Martin Damm (CZE) and Filip Polasek (SVK) in the championship match tomorrow at 1:00pm on the Stadium Court.
