Kids Have Fun In the Sun At The BMW Tennis Championship

Under blue and sunny skies the kids enjoyed games, snacks and prizes as the BMW Tennis Championship hosted “Kids' Day” Saturday afternoon.

Parents watched from the stands and cheered as their children participated in the many games that were offered. All the activities were played with tennis balls and rackets, but that’s where many of the traditional aspects of tennis ended and the fun of children’s games began.

Twin brothers Jason and Jordan Green agreed that “Jail” –a game that involved hitting a tennis ball over the net, but keeping it away from the many “jailbirds” on the other side – was by far the most fun. Another favorite of the kids was “tag singles.” For this game, the participants hit the ball and ran to the other side of the court. This often resulted in hilarious chaos as the kids were running back and forth in a continuous stream of motion, trying to keep the ball going.

The kids, and a few kids-at-heart, ran around the court that had been specially reserved for Kids' Day as they competed for cool prizes and bragging rights. The cameras of the proud parents clicked as they captured the images of their children enjoying the day.

“I think this is a really good event for the kids. You can see the smiles on their faces as they play,” said Cheryl Day, one of the mothers attending the event. Fellow mother Claudia Gonzalez also agreed, saying her four-year old son loved playing tennis and that this was perfect for him.

The kids left with goodie bags of candy and smiling faces as another Kids' Day event came to a successful conclusion on a beautiful day in Sunrise, Florida.
